Export
When your manuscript is ready, export it from any project view by clicking the Export button in the toolbar. The export dialog lets you choose the format and configure all options before downloading.
Formats
Markdown (.md) — Plain text with formatting preserved. Ideal for version control, importing into other tools, or quick review.
Word (.docx) — Microsoft Word format with configurable font, size, line spacing, and margins. Ready for submission or editorial review.
EPUB (.epub) — E-reader format for Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, and others. Supports a cover image embedded from the Cover view.
Common Options
These options apply to all three formats:
| Option | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Title page | On | Includes a title page with book title and author name |
| Table of contents | On | Generates a TOC from act and chapter titles |
| Act headings | On | Includes act titles as major section breaks |
| Scene separator | * * * | Text inserted between scenes. Set to empty string to omit. |
Scene Status Filter
The status filter controls which scenes are included in the export:
- Select Final only to produce a clean manuscript from completed scenes.
- Select Draft + Revision + Final to include all scenes with prose.
- De-select Outline to exclude scenes without prose (default).
